To My Unborn Son

 28 January, 2022

Hi Son,

I'm missing you. I have not even met you face-to-face, and yet I miss you. I spent twenty minutes this morning watching you wiggle around on the ultrasound while I could feel you stretching your legs and arms. You're a strong little dude. You wiggle a lot, but I love it because it reminds me how close you are to me, even though you feel yet days away (as you are). Today marks you growing inside me for seven months. It's been awful at times, to be honest, but I’ve known you are worth all the discomforts and pains.

Your father loves you so much already. He gives you lots of kisses through my belly, and talks about you a lot. Mostly about wanting to share his favorite foods with you--eating is very important to your father, you will come to find. I hope to raise you to be a gentle, kind man like your father.

Sure, I wonder what you’ll look like and what features you’ll bear of your father and I, but I also wonder what you’ll like. What will you enjoy? What will fascinate you? What will you be passionate about? What values will you develop? These are the questions that keep me up some nights.

I love you deeply. Look forward to getting to love you tangibly very soon.

With eternal love,

Your mother
